MUSD GOVERNING BOARD (1).png

Having lived in Marana for much of my life, I am passionate about the community and quality of life here. I am running for the Marana School Board because I believe that it all begins with the kids.

Our kids' futures are riding on the education and opportunities our community provides them. As a mom of four, I understand that parents should partner with schools to create a school district that is a national model of educational excellence. It is the board's responsibility and privilege to listen to the parents and work with them to ensure the best possible educational outcomes for our kids.

ABOUT

Family

I have been married to my husband, Jared, for 19 years. We have four beautiful children together and love supporting our Marana Unified School District Schools.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science

  • Doctorate of Jurisprudence

  • Master's degree in Education Policy from Johns Hopkins University

Professional

I work as In-House Counsel doing primarily risk management and contract compliance work. My most fulfilling work is helping nonprofits get off the ground to build a strong service culture in our community.

Personal

I was born in Tucson and learned to read while attending an MUSD school. I love advocating for public education and seeing how it strengthens our community. If you see me around, please stop me and tell me why you love Marana too!

Community

I invest much of my free time into bettering the community. I am on the board of two nonprofit organizations: SRVIVRS, a national organization, and Marana Youth Choir. I have organized many programs for growth, compliance, and educational experiences on the national and local level. I also enjoy serving children and families  in school organizations and at my church. I am on the board of the parent organizations at Coyote Trail Elementary and Marana High School. I can be found on an MUSD campus most days.

Vision and Focus

1

Strong Schools

Kids First Policies

MUSD schools will successfully meet their educational and instructional goals by putting the needs of kids above all else. Kids need to be the top consideration - always.

Rigorous Curriculum

I support the district in its efforts to adopt challenging, effective curricula and appreciate its partnership and transparency with parents and families.

Strong Communities

Parent Partnership

Studies show that when the schools form a true partnership with parents, student achievement improves. My graduate studies focused on this need for our district and I already am working on initiatives to bring parents into the classroom and make them a part of their childrens' education.

Creating Life-Long Learners We need to graduate students that are prepared to be assets in growing our community.
